LEKWA SMME FAIR DAY HELD ON THE 31 MARCH 2017

Lekwa Local Municipality in partnership with Gert Sibande District Municipality had successful hosted a SMME Fair day on the 31st of March 2017 in Standerton. The fair day was organized as an initiative to create a platform for Local SMMEs to showcase their various talents, products and also to encourage a unified voice for SMMEs to advocate that SMME has a potential to contribute and transform the Local Economic situations faced by the people of Lekwa.

Entrepreneurship is a transformation imperative which requires collaborative efforts to build an inclusive economy that might solve the current realities (unemployment, poverty and inequality).

Local SMMEs have proven that with their products and skills available in the Municipality can change the current situation, the exhibitors displayed various products such as arts, crafts, clothes, cultural Music, poetry etc.

The plight of SMME is on top of both Gert Sibande District and Lekwa Municipalities, it is therefore important for both Municipalities to have future joint programmes that will shape the Economy of Lekwa and the entire District and also to empower and promote any business idea that will support growth formalisation of informal, micro, small and medium enterprises.
