Executive Mayor, Cllr. Sifiso Mngemezulu, in partnership with the Department of Employment and Labour, hosted the Mayoral Unemployment Dialogue at the Standerton Town Hall.
The dialogue is an initiative spearheaded by Executive Mayor Mngemezulu aimed at addressing youth unemployment and promoting the economic viability of the municipality.
He said youth unemployment is not just a statistic, but a serious economic challenge that impacts the overall development of the municipality.
“In this Youth Month, we want our youth to get to work, as they are the cornerstone of future economic stability not only for our municipality but for the country at large. Therefore, creating employment opportunities for them to thrive in the economy is very important,” he said.
He emphasized that tackling unemployment is at the core of his priorities and called on all sectors, including businesses, to work together to realise a strategic response to this challenge.
