Lekwa Local Municipality celebrated the conclusion of Heritage Month with a vibrant Employee Wellness Programme, designed to promote both health and financial literacy among its staff. The event featured medical screenings and educational sessions, highlighting the municipality’s commitment to the wellbeing of its employees.
Collaborating with key stakeholders such as Visual World SA, Nedbank and SARS, the programme provided valuable insights into various financial topics, including debt consolidation, taxation, and overall financial health. This initiative aimed to empower employees with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate their financial responsibilities effectively.
The event was graced by the presence of Executive Mayor Cllr. Delani Thabethe and MMC for Technical Services Cllr. Thabo Sebiloane, who both took the time to acknowledge the
importance of this initiative. Cllr. Sebiloane commended the employees for showcasing their diverse cultures, stating: “I want to applaud all employees for representing their various cultures so beautifully. This event truly highlights our rich heritage.” In a display of community spirit, employees had the opportunity to share their traditions and customs, fostering a sense of unity and pride within the municipality.
Executive Mayor Cllr. Delani Thabethe emphasised the significance of financial wellbeing in his address. “The financial wellbeing of our employees is very important. I would like to extend my gratitude to the wellness section for organising this programme, as healthy employees contribute successfully to the community. I encourage all employees to come forward to the wellness office whenever they encounter challenges, whether financial, psychological, or personal,” he said.
