Today 13 May 2025, Lekwa Local Municipality welcomed 150 learners from Standerton, Thuthukani, and Morgenzon for the induction of the National Certificate in Plant Production Level 2 (SAQA ID 48975). This 8-month program, funded by the National Skills Fund (NSF) and AgriSeta, will comprise 3 months of theoretical training and 5 months of practical experience.
The project has garnered significant support from key stakeholders, including Leoto la Africa serving as the training provider, Department of Agriculture facilitating workplace practicals, Department of Employment and Labour assisting with career guidance and learner recruitment
The induction was graced by the presence of the Speaker of the Council Cllr Dumisani Msibi. Cllr. Msibi addressed the learners, emphasizing that this certificate will open doors to future opportunities. He highlighted the importance of agriculture as a cornerstone of the economy, wishing the learners the best of luck in their studies.
This initiative underscores the municipality’s commitment to skills development and economic growth in the region.
