Lekwa SASSA beneficiaries urged to migrate to Postbank Black Card before deadline

Mar 17, 2025

WhatsApp Image 2025 03 17 at 17.24.20Lekwa beneficiaries of the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) gathered at the Sakhile Hall and Thusong Center on 17 March 2025 to change their SSASSA Gold Cards to the Postbank Black Cards.

This follows the national push to migrate all SASSA beneficiaries to the new system before the extended deadline of 20 March 2025.

The initiative was supported by the Executive Mayor, SASSA Manager, and the Speaker of the Gert Sibande District Municipality, who assured beneficiaries that the transition process would be smooth and efficient.

During the session, beneficiaries were given the option to either switch to the Postbank Black Card or have their grants deposited into a bank account of their choice.

While the card exchange was successfully conducted on 17 March, local authorities have confirmed that there are no further migration points in Lekwa until further notice.

However, beneficiaries who still need assistance can visit Sakhile Hall on 18 March 2025, where services will be available from 8 AM to 4 PM.

Beneficiaries who wish to have their grants paid into a personal bank account can visit their nearest SASSA office to complete the migration process. They must bring along their IDs and bank account confirmation letter from their chosen bank.

Despite the approaching deadline, there is still no official communication on what will happen to beneficiaries who do not migrate to the new card system by 20 March 2025.

The Executive Mayor, Cllr. Sifiso Mngemezulu, has urged all SASSA recipients to act urgently to prevent any disruption on their grant payments.

For further updates, beneficiaries are encouraged to stay informed through official SASSA and Postbank channels.
