Lekwa Local Municipality bids farewell to its esteemed Municipal Manager, Mr. Malose Lamola. He has been at the helm of the municipality’s most senior administrative position since 11 July 2022 and his last day in office is 15 August 2025.
Mr. Lamola stabilised the administration of the municipality, building a basic administrative principles, internal controls and governance mechanisms.
He has laid a solid foundation of the administrative stability needed to deliver basic services to the community whilst ensuring accountable and transparent administration.
“We are bidding farewell to a man of few words and many actions. He leaves an indelible footprint.”
“His tenure in the municipality was characterised by extraordinary leadership and the municipality had so many achievements under his leadership,” said Executive Mayor, Cllr. Sifiso Mngemezulu.
Council Speaker, Cllr. Phindile Mahlaba said the municipal manager has performed his function of not only leading the administration but also of being an advisor to the Council with exceptional excellence.
“The Council has the greatest appreciation for the work Mr. Lamola has done for the municipality. He brought stability to the municipality and strengthened governance and accountability mechanisms.”
“As painful as it is for his departure we are going to miss his work ethics a lot, he has worked tirelessly in making sure that we deliver services to our community.”
“On behalf of the Council, I wish to thank Mr. Lamola for his dedicated leadership and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours,” said Speaker Mahlaba.
Mr. Malose Lamola has thanked the Council for the opportunity of serving the community of Lekwa.
“Serving as the Accounting Officer of this institution has been one of the greatest honours of my career. I am proud of the achievements that we made in the past three years, especially that of turning audit findings around and stabilising service delivery infrastructure among others.”
“I have been privileged to work with dedicated employees and all stakeholders in an effort to advance the municipality’s ability to deliver services to all its residents.”
“As I step down, I appreciate the support I received from the Council, staff and all our stakeholders. I wish the municipality well in its future endeavours,” he stated.
The Council will appoint the Acting Municipal Manager in its next Council sitting.
