Executive Mayor announces changes to the Mayoral Committee

Sep 5, 2024

Lekwa Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr. Louis Thabethe has announced changes to the Mayoral Committee. The changes were necessitated by the need to fill a vacancy left by former MMC for Technical Services, Cllr. Sipho Majozi, who was elected a Speaker of the Council.

Executive Mayor said the filling of the vacancy in the Mayoral Committee also presented an opportunity to consolidate strengths of the departments, in an effort to speed up service delivery.

“After carefully considering that we also need to further strengthen effective and efficient oversight in our quest to fast-track service provision to our communities, I have decided to fill the vacancy in Technical Services Department and further make the following changes in the Mayoral Committee:

  • MMC for Technical Services – Cllr. Thabo Sebiloane
  • MMC for Planning and Economic Development – Cllr. Seipati Modise
  • MMC for Community Services and Safety – Cllr. Corne Stoltz

Councillor Phindile Mahlaba will continue serving as MMC for Corporate Services,” he announced.

“I wish the MMCs well in executing their new responsibilities and in them, I believe that we have a very strong and dedicated team that, together, we will continue to do our best to service our communities,” Executive Mayor Thabethe concluded.
