The Executive Mayor of Lekwa Local Municipality, Cllr. Sifiso Mngemezulu conducted the first meet and greet sessions. The sessions began on Monday, 18 November 2024 where he met the extended management and met with all employees of the municipality on Tuesday 19 November 2024.
The purpose of the meet and greet sessions was to introduce the newly elected Executive Mayor, Speaker and the Members of the Mayoral Committee to the management and the entire staff compliment of the municipality.
Speaking during the staff meet and greet at the town hall, Executive Mayor emphasised on the importance of strong relationship between political leadership, senior management and the workforce.
“Employees are the most important component of this municipality and without this strong relationship and without employees the municipality would grind to a halt.
This relationship between must be felt by our communities through effective and service delivery,” he said.
He called on all employees to roll up their sleeves, even more than before and work towards improving delivery of quality services to the community.
“Renew your commitment to this municipality, intensify your work and genuinely love what you do and what you are employed for, so that service delivery can be easily achieved,” he said.
He committed to take the engagement further to all departments to directly engagement employee on their challenges, including checking compliance with basic conditions of employment and that employees are provided with personal protective equipment (PPEs).
