The back to school week has brought joy on various schools within the municipality. On the 15th January 2025, Lekwa Local Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr. Sifiso Mngemezulu, Gert Sibande District Speaker Cllr. Busisiwe Sekhonde, Cllr. Piet Radebe and ward committees visited Jandrell secondary School.
In recognition of the school’s hard work and achievements, particularly the remarkable 95% pass rate achieved by the matric class of 2024, they donated twenty (20) pairs of school shoes to learners, with the intention of easing the financial burden on families as the new academic year begins.
“The success we are witnessing here today is a testament to the hard work and dedication of both the learners and educators at Jandrell Secondary School” said Cllr. Mngemezulu.
On the 16th January 2025, the back to school programme continued to Hlobisa Primary School were they donated 56 pair of school shoes and Seriti donated 200 juice bottles. aimed at further encouraging and supporting learners as they begin their school year.
The programme went in the depth of the municipality headed by Lekwa Local Municipality’s Speaker of Council Cllr. Dumisani Msibi and MPAC Chairperson Cllr. Doctor Manana visited Morgenzon Landbou Akademy to assess the school’s state of readiness for the 2025 school year and the implementation of the Basic Education Laws Amendment Act (BELA). They also congratulated the school for their outstanding achievement of 100% pass rate for the Matric Class of 2024 and encouraged them to maintain this high standard.
The programme underscored the municipality’s dedication in building a brighter future for the community through education.
