The municipality convened a Community Safety Forum (CSF) meeting, aimed at enhancing collaboration among stakeholders in the fight against crime, compliance and promoting a safer environment for all communities within the municipality.
The meeting was chaired by the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Community Services and Safety Cllr. Mapaseka Molaba, who acknowledged the forum’s continued commitment to community safety.
The primary objective of the meeting was to outline the Programme of Action for the 2025/2026 financial year, focusing on key safety priorities, strategic partnerships, and coordinated interventions to reduce crime and address issues of non-compliance across Lekwa.
The forum is made up of representatives from various government departments, including health and environmental department, home affairs, law enforcement agencies, community policing forums (CPFs), security companies and civil society organisations. Discussions centered around proactive safety strategies, improved communication between stakeholders, and empowering communities to take an active role in promoting lawful and secure neighbourhoods.
“All matters related to crime, illegality, and compliance are not only the responsibility of the law enforcement agencies, they are our collective responsibility as a structure or community and we must stand together to address them”. said Cllr Molaba during her address
MMC Molaba reaffirmed her commitment to prioritising safety and security, while calling on all sectors of society to play their part in building a safer, compliant and crime-free environment.
The meeting concluded with a strong sense of unity and determination to implement sustainable actions that will improve safety and securing for all Lekwa residents.
