In a significant step towards uplifting early childhood development in Morgenzon, Seriti, through its Power Community Trust programme, in partnership with the Mpumalanga Provincial Government and Gert Sibande District Municipality, officially handed over two Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres to the Lekwa Local Municipality.
These centres are designed to provide a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for the children of Morgenzon. Both facilities are fully equipped with essential resources, including age-appropriate learning materials, furniture, and infrastructure made to promote holistic child development and smooth learning.
During the official handover ceremony, Executive Mayor Cllr Sifiso Mngemezulu expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Seriti for their continued investment in the community. He also reflected on recent contributions made by the mining giant.
“We are extremely grateful to Seriti for their firm commitment to empowering Lekwa communities. Just recently, they donated the state of the art to support water and sanitation services and now they have gone even further by giving our children a solid foundation through these ECD centres.
“This is not just an investment in infrastructure it is an investment in the future of our children,” said Cllr Mngemezulu.
The Mayor concluded: “The establishment of these centres emphasise the importance of public-private partnerships in driving sustainable community development and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive in a supportive environment.”
