Mr. Linda Tshabalala
PROFILE OF THE MUNICIPAL MANAGER OF LEKWA LOCAL MUNICIPALITY
The Lekwa Local Municipality as per the Council resolution C14 of June 5, 2012 appointed a Municipal Manager Mr. Linda Bernard Tshabalala. He assumed his duties as the Municipal Manager from the 1ST August 2012.
Mr. Tshabalala was born and bred in Sakhile obtained his grade 12 from Jandrell Senior Secondary School and proceeded to the Mpumalanga College of Education where he obtained his Senior Primary Teachers Diploma. He also has a Further Diploma in Education with the Rand Afrikaans University. He furthered his studies with the University of South Africa and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Mr. Tshabalala is currently studying for a Masters in Business Administration.
He started working for the Mpumalanga Department of Education as a Teacher at Jandrell Secondary School, and then moved to Lindilanga Primary School and later Acting as Principal at SkoonUitseg Intermediate School. He then went on to become a Labour Relations Officer in the Mpumalanga Department of Education Standerton District Office.
He thereafter pursued a career in politics as a Ccouncillor and eventually became the Gert Sibande Disrict Municipality Executive Mayor.
Before joining the Lekwa Local Municipality he was employed by the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature as a Executive Manager: Parliamentary Operations and also Acted as the Secretary to the Mpumalanga Legislature for 17months.
Mr. Tshabalala has held leadership positions in a number of different structures as a Secretary including the following:
Sakhile Civic Association (1989 – 1991)
Congress of South African Trade Unions (locally)(1993 – 1994)
South African Democratic Teachers Unions (1995-1998)
African National Congress (2000)
