Lekwa Local Municipality receives long awaited pumps

May 14, 2024

There was a sigh of relief when the long-awaited pumps that purchased by Seriti on behalf of the municipality finally arrived yesterday afternoon (09 May 2024). Their subsequent installation will be bringing relief to many residents as some areas in Lekwa struggled with no water due to the amount of water abstracted from the river.

The Executive Mayor, Cllr. Delane Thabethe, who was at the Water Treatment plant with the Speaker of Council, Cllr. Sipho Majozi received the pumps with excitement as the pumps will provide much needed relief to the areas of the municipality that have been struggling with water.

“Right now the pumps are being offloaded and will be assembled with the 1st pump expected to be assembled and installed as soon as possible

“This will have a positive impact in the supply and distribution of water and some areas will see an improved supply of water. We are grateful to Seriti and all other stakeholders that continuously support and assist the municipality in delivering much needed services to our community,” said Executive Mayor Thabethe.
