Relief as learners receive uniform

Sep 9, 2024

SASSA, joined by Executive Mayor, today donated school uniform to Cothoza Primary School and Earlybird Primary School in Standerton.

Cothoza Primary school received 37 school uniforms, while Early Bird Primary school was given 33.

Learners, parents and teachers at both schools could not hold their excitement after receiving full school uniform which also included cosmetics.

“This is forms part of social relief programme we use to support the education system,” said Mr. Nhlanhla Nyembe, SASSA’s Local Office Manager.

“Ours as the municipality is to ensure that we coordinate all the support we can get to assist and bring back the dignity of the needy learners so that they focus fully on their school work.

“We believe that this support will bring a brighter future, not only to these learners but the community at large, as some of these learners told us that they want to be Doctors,” said Executive Mayor Thabethe.

The principals of both schools expressed their appreciation, noting that when all learners are dressed similarly, it fosters a sense of equality and enhances self-esteem and confidence in all the learners.

The program is set to continue tomorrow at Morgenzon, promising to extend these positive impacts to even more learners in the community.
