As we approach the end of 2025, I extend my warmest Christmas greetings to every resident of Lekwa Local Municipality. This festive season gives us an opportunity to pause, reflect and appreciate the resilience, unity and strength we have shown as a community throughout the year.
Christmas is a time of compassion and togetherness, but it is also a time where many individuals face challenges behind closed doors. I call on our community to stand firmly against Gender-Based Violence (GBV). No one should live in fear, and no act of violence can ever be justified. Let us use this season to protect one another, support survivors, and promote a culture of respect and dignity for every human being.
As families and friends travel and celebrate, I also urge everyone to prioritise road safety. Too many lives are lost on our roads during the festive period. Please do not drink and drive your life and the lives of others are precious. Ensure your vehicle is roadworthy, obey traffic laws, and drive with patience and care. Arriving safely is the greatest gift you can give and receive.
We are proud of the progress made this year in service delivery, community development, and strengthening local governance. These steps forward were made possible through your continued cooperation and commitment to building a better Lekwa.
On behalf of the municipality, I wish you a peaceful, joyful and safe Christmas. May this season bring warmth to your homes and renewed hope for the coming year. Together, let us enter 2026 united, vigilant and determined to create a safer and more prosperous municipality for all.
Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!
