In an effort to create a safe and inclusive space for men to engage on social, economic and community issues, the MMC for Community Services and Safety Cllr. Mapaseka Molaba officially launched the Lekwa Men’s Forum in Ward 2 at Social Centre.
The establishment of the Men’s Forum aims to provide a platform where men can openly discuss challenges affecting them and their communities, promote positive masculinity, encourage social cohesion, and contribute meaningfully to community development initiatives. The structure also seeks to address issues such as gender-based violence and substance abuse.
Speaking at the launch, MMC Molaba emphasised the importance of creating structured platforms for men to engage constructively.
“The Men’s Forum is a critical intervention that allows men to support one another, take responsibility within their families and communities, and become active partners in building a safer and more caring society. Through dialogue and collective action, we can address the challenges faced by men while promoting values of respect, accountability and unity,” said MMC Molaba.
The programme forms part of the municipality’s broader commitment to community empowerment and social development through inclusive participation.
The Men’s Forum programme is set to continue on 23 January 2026 in Ward 4 at Stanwest Hall.
