The workshop was facilitated by Mr Surprise Khwiyane from the Provincial Legislature.
The purpose of the workshop was to engage and consult members of the public on the proposed Bill, provide clarity on its objectives, and create a platform for community members to better understand the implications of the legislation. Participants were also afforded an opportunity to ask questions, share views, and prepare meaningful inputs ahead of the formal public hearings.
The programme was graced by the presence of the MMC for Community Services and Safety, Cllr Mapaseka Molaba, who welcomed the initiative and encouraged active citizen participation in legislative processes.
“Public participation is a backbone of a responsive and accountable government. Workshops such as these empower communities to understand legislation and to contribute meaningfully to policies that directly affect their lives. It is through informed engagement that we strengthen democracy and service delivery.’’ said MMC Molaba.
The Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing public engagement and urged community members to continue participating in upcoming public hearings to ensure that the final legislation reflects the needs and aspirations of the people it serves.
