The municipality, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, continues to prioritize community safety through awareness campaigns, with the latest initiative conducted at Thandeka Primary School.
The programme focused on educating learners about general safety practices, including road safety, fire prevention, and emergency response.
Officials engaged with learners in an interactive manner, ensuring that key safety messages were clearly understood and relatable.
Learners were encouraged to be vigilant at all times, to avoid dangerous situations, and to report any safety concerns to teachers or authorities. Demonstrations were also conducted to highlight the importance of basic safety measures both at school and at home.
Speaking during the awareness campaign, fire fighters emphasized the importance of empowering young learners with safety knowledge:
“Instilling safety awareness at a young age is critical in building responsible and alert citizens who can contribute to safer communities.”
The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to promote a culture of safety in schools and ensure that learners are equipped with the knowledge to protect themselves and others.
