The Executive Mayor Cllr. Sifiso Mngemezulu, led the commencement of the Draft 2026/2027 Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Budget consultations for Ward 2 at the Social Centre. The session marked the beginning of community engagements aimed at involving residents in shaping the municipality’s development priorities and financial planning.
Residents of Ward 2 gathered to voice service delivery issues. The IDP consultations form a critical part of participatory governance, ensuring that the municipality aligns its plans with the lived realities of its residents.
Addressing the community, Executive Mayor Mngemezulu stated: “These consultations are a platform for the residents of Lekwa to directly influence how resources are allocated and how development is prioritised in their communities.”
He also added: “We as the municipality encourages residents to actively engage and make meaningful contributions that will guide the municipality’s strategic direction. Your inputs are vital in ensuring that the municipality delivers services that truly meet your needs.”
The IDP and Budget consultation programme will continue on 15 April 2026 at Ward 3 Stanwest Hall.
