
Lekwa Local Municipality held a consultative meeting with local youth aimed at contributing towards the development of the Provincial Youth Structure. The engagement formed part of ongoing efforts to ensure that young people actively participate in matters affecting youth development and governance within the Mpumalanga Province.
The purpose of the meeting was to engage young people in meaningful discussions that will help inform policies, programmes, and interventions that are aimed at addressing youth development challenges and opportunities across the province. The session created a platform for youth to raise concerns, share ideas, and contribute recommendations on issues affecting their communities.
The meeting comprised of youth representatives from various local youth structures and formations, including community organisations, student bodies, youth-led initiatives, and other stakeholders committed to youth empowerment and development. Discussions focused on matters such as unemployment, skills development, entrepreneurship, education, social challenges, and increasing youth participation in decision-making processes.
The municipality reaffirms its commitment to supporting initiatives that empower young people, create opportunities for growth and participation, and ensures that the voices of local youth contribute meaningfully to the development of the Provincial Youth Structure
