Jul 10, 2026

The Office of the Executive Mayor hereby announces a reconfiguration of the Mayoral Committee aimed at strengthening governance, enhancing service delivery, and ensuring the continued effective functioning of the Municipality.

This reconfiguration is undertaken in accordance with section 60(1)(a) of the Local Government: Municipal Structures Act, 1998 (Act 117 of 1998), which empowers the Executive Mayor to appoint the members of the Mayoral Committee.

The composition of the Mayoral Committee is therefore as follows:

Member                                                         Portfolio

Cllr M.S Mngemezulu            Executive Mayor/MMC Community Services and Safety Cllr A. Mthimkhulu                                           MMC: Corporate Services

Cllr T. Motaung                     MMC: Budget and Treasury

Cllr L. Marago                      MMC: Technical Services

Cllr S. Masondo                    MMC: Planning and Economic Development

Pending any further changes to the composition of the Mayoral Committee, the Community Services and Safety Department will report directly to and fall under the Office of the Executive Mayor. This interim administrative arrangement has been made to ensure continuity in governance, effective oversight, and the uninterrupted delivery of municipal services while the Executive Mayor exercises the executive authority and responsibilities vested in that office in terms of section 56 of the Local Government: Municipal Structures Act, 1998.

The Office of the Executive Mayor remains committed to providing stable, accountable and responsive leadership that advances the Municipality’s developmental agenda. Working together with the Municipal Council and Administration, the reconfigured Mayoral Committee will continue to strengthen governance, improve organisational performance, and accelerate the delivery of quality municipal services to all residents.

The Office of the Executive Mayor assures residents, stakeholders and municipal partners that municipal services will continue uninterrupted throughout this transition. Any further changes to the executive structure will be communicated through the appropriate official channels.

The Office of the Executive Mayor extends its sincere appreciation to the outgoing Member of the Mayoral Committee for her dedicated service and contribution to the Community Services and Safety portfolio. We thank her for her commitment to serving the people of the Municipality and wish her every success in her future endeavours.
