Fellow residents of Lekwa Local Municipality,
As we mark the solemn and sacred occasion of Easter, we are called upon not merely to observe a moment in the calendar but to engage in a deeper reflection on the enduring values that define our shared humanity.
Easter stands as a profound reminder of renewal, of sacrifice, and of the triumph of hope over despair. It is a moment that invites us, individually and collectively, to reflect on the moral and ethical foundations upon which we must continue to build our society. In a world often marked by hardship and uncertainty, this season reaffirms the timeless virtues of compassion, forgiveness, humility, and unity.
As a community, we are confronted daily with challenges that test our resolve. Yet, it is precisely through these challenges that we are presented with an opportunity to act with kindness, to extend solidarity to those in need, and to reaffirm our commitment to building a municipality that is caring, inclusive, and just.
The spirit of Easter urges us to recognise that our progress is inextricably linked to the wellbeing of others, and that none among us can truly prosper while others remain in distress.
In this regard, let us use this period to strengthen the bonds that unite us as a people. Let us reach out to the vulnerable, support those facing adversity, and renew our collective commitment to social cohesion and mutual care. It is through such deliberate acts of humanity that we give practical meaning to the ideals we so often proclaim.
At the same time, as many of our residents will be travelling during this Easter period, I wish to make a sincere appeal to all road users. The preservation of life must remain paramount. I urge motorists, pedestrians, and all who make use of our roads to exercise caution, to respect traffic regulations, and to avoid reckless behaviour, including driving under the influence of alcohol. Let us act with responsibility and vigilance to ensure that every journey taken during this period concludes safely.
Fellow residents, as we reflect on the significance of this season, let us also renew our sense of purpose. Let us recommit ourselves to the task of building a better Lekwa one characterised by dignity, opportunity, and shared prosperity for all who call it home.
On behalf of Lekwa Local Municipality, I extend to each and every one of you my heartfelt wishes for a peaceful, safe, and blessed Easter.
May this season bring with it renewed hope, strengthened faith, and a deeper sense of unity within our community.
I thank you.
Cllr. Sifiso Mngemezulu
