Lekwa Local Disability Forum Strengthens Commitment to Inclusive Service Delivery

The Chairperson for Local Disability Forum, Mr. Lebogang Kgasebe today led the Local Disability Forum at the Council Chamber. The meeting provided a platform for engagement between the municipality, stakeholders, and representatives of people with disabilities. The meeting aimed at addressing challenges faced by people with disabilities, promoting equal access to public services and ensure disability issues are included in the planning and service delivery process.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss existing programmes, identify public service delivery gaps, and propose practical solutions to improve accessibility. Mr. Kgasebe also introduced the interim members of the structure, who will serve in their respective positions pending the official appointment.

The interim office bearers are Mr. Lebogang Kgasebe as Chairperson, Ms. Anele Cele as Deputy Chairperson, Mrs. Eslina Mashinini as Secretary, Ms. Ntombifikile Mofokeng as Deputy Secretary, Ms. Noluthando Mnisi as Treasurer, Ms. Nomthandazo Radebe as Project Coordinator, and Mr. Sizwe Zondi as Stakeholder and Community Liaison.

“The structure will also establish and maintain a database containing information on persons with disability in Lekwa. Application forms are currently available at the Standerton Library (Town Hall). Going forward, efforts will be made to ensure that these application forms are accessible at all local government facilities and community organisations across the municipality,” said Mr. Kgasebe

The collaborative efforts between the municipality, and LDF members and stakeholders in fostering an inclusive environment where the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities, are upheld and protected.
