Lekwa Local Municipality Hands Over Title Deeds to Ward 3 Residents

Jan 16, 2026

IMG 7722In an effort to promote secure home ownership and restore dignity to communities, the Lekwa Local Municipality handed over 10 title deeds to deserving beneficiaries of Ward 3. The programme was led by the MMC for Planning and Economic Development, Cllr. Sesana Masondo.

MMC Masondo stated that title deeds are important in improving the quality of life for residents.

“I humbly request that you keep these title deeds safely, because once issued, you will never receive another one. This document is proof that the property belongs to you legally, and it must be protected at all times,” she said.

The handover was met with appreciation from beneficiaries, many of whom expressed gratitude for finally receiving formal ownership of their homes after many years.

The programme forms part of the municipality’s ongoing commitment to integrate property ownership and empower residents with legal rights to their homes.

MMC Molaba shared same sentiments, stating: “Today marks a very important milestone for our community. These title deeds are a symbol of ownership, pride, and security”.

The Lekwa Local Municipality reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating the issuance of title deeds across all wards, as part of its broader strategy to address challenges related to land ownership and tenure security.
