Municipal Sanitation teams are hard at work attending to sewer spillages reported in various affected areas. The response forms part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to maintain sanitation infrastructure and ensure a clean and safe environment for residents.

The spillages are largely caused by blockages in the sewer system, often resulting from the disposal of foreign objects such as plastics, cloths, and other unsuitable materials into manholes and drains. These materials block the normal flow of wastewater, leading to overflows that
pose both environmental and health risks.

Community members are strongly urged to refrain from dumping waste into sewer systems and to use proper waste disposal methods. Public cooperation remains essential in safeguarding municipal infrastructure and preventing recurring sewer spillages.

Residents are encouraged to report any sewer-related issues to our Customer Care, to enable a swift response, by contacting our call centre 017 712 5458, WhatsApp line 082 683 6707 or email WeCare@lekwalm.gov.za
