In its efforts to enhance raw water abstraction capacity, Lekwa Local Municipality has welcomed the delivery of the additional new raw water pumping unit today.
The unit, which will be the 5th raw water pump, will be installed today utilising the time presented by the planned water outage necessitated by the refurbishment construction work at the Treatment Plant.
Executive Mayor, Cllr. Sifiso Mngemezulu said the procurement of the additional raw water abstraction pump forms part of the ongoing efforts to improve the pumping capacity and ensuring reliable and consistent supply of water to all our residents.
“The commissioning of these pumping units is part of our commitment to stabilise water supply and ensure that every household gets water from their taps in the long-term as well as responding to the growing water demand,” said Executive Mayor Mngemezulu.
The procurement of these new pump units show that Lekwa Local Municipality is actively investing in sustainable solutions to the water challenges and is committed to ensuring that water supply is stable and reliable.
