Executive Mayor Engages with Community Work Programme Participants

IMG 3402Executive Mayor Cllr. Sifiso Mngemezulu visited the 30 participants of the Community Work Programme, who are currently undergoing training at the Gert Sibande TVET College Skills Academy. The welding programme is aimed at equipping the participants with artisanship skills that will not only enhance their employability but also be able to start their own businesses.

The programme is designed to provide quality technical training, covers various welding techniques with participants being taught how to perform colour coded welding, an essential industry skill. The training is designed to ensure that each participant is prepared for the welding industry various demands, including compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.

“The skills development programme is about empowering individuals and providing them with the tools they need to build a brighter future for themselves and contribute to the growth of our economy. As a municipality, we are committed to fostering an environment where young people can thrive, and programmes like this play an important role in achieving that goal,” said Cllr Mngemezulu.
