Public Participation on Municipal Bylaws

WhatsApp Image 2025 11 21 at 08.43.52Lekwa Local Municipality, led by the MMC for Community Services and Safety, Cllr Mapaseka Molaba, held a Public Participation consultation on By-laws at the Eskom Hall in Ward 8 yesterday, 19 November 2025 and in Morgenzone Sivukile hall ward 14 this morning.
The purpose of the engagement was to consult and give the community opportunity to commnet and submit their input on the draft by laws relating to streets, public places and the prevention of noise nuisance, intergrated waste management by law, fire and rescue by law traffic by law.
During her address, MMC Molaba highlighted the importance of community involvement in strengthening compliance and improving service delivery.
She stated:“These by-laws are not designed to police our communities, but to protect them. When we all understand and respect the rules that keep our environment clean, our roads safer, and our neighbourhoods better managed, we build a community we can all be proud of. Your voices and participation are essential in making these laws practical and effective for everyone.”
