Today, the SA PCB Project hosted a Household Chemicals Awareness Programme at Stanwest Hall.
The programme was aimed at educating the community about the safe use of general household chemicals.
Officials from the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment shared important information about how chemicals used for cleaning, hygiene and food production can be harmful if not used properly.
Community members were encouraged to always read labels, store chemicals safely, and avoid mixing different cleaning products.
The MMC for Community Services and Safety, Mapaseka Molaba, delivered the welcoming address. She highlighted the importance of the programme and said the information shared is very important for the health and safety of the community. She also mentioned that she wished health inspectors were present to further support the initiative.
The programme also encouraged residents to protect the environment and plant more trees in Lekwa to create a healthier and greener community.
The event was well attended and formed part of ongoing efforts to promote public health and environmental awareness in the municipality.
