Lekwa Local Municipality Council has adopted budget and Intergrated Development Plan (IDP) review for the 2024/2025 financial year that will begin on 01 July 2024. This follows the tabling of these strategic documents by Executive Mayor, Cllr. Delani Thabethe during the Special Council Meeting held virtually on Tuesday, 04 June 2024.
Tabling these documents, Executive Mayor Thabethe said that it was very crucial for the Council to adopt them so as to comply with the Municipal Finance Management Act and ensuring that service delivery continues unhindered. He said the final budget and Integrated Development Plan was a culmination of extensive consultative outreach programme where community of Lekwa in all wards were given an opportunity to prioritise their development needs.
“This is a programme of action we will be embarking on as the municipality during the 2024/2025 financial year in our quest to strengthen service delivery by leveraging on the foundation we have laid in the financial year ending on 30 June 2024 and prior years.
“The budget that the Council has adopted is informed by the needs of Lekwa residents and with it, we will continue with our strives of advancing their development and making Lekwa great again”, said Executive Mayor.
